Certified Prenatal Massage in Charlotte, NC
Supportive massage for the changing physical demands of pregnancy, provided by a therapist certified to work through all three trimesters.
What Makes Prenatal Massage Different
Prenatal massage adapts ordinary massage techniques to pregnancy rather than asking a pregnant client to fit a standard table routine. Positioning, bolstering, pressure, session goals, and the areas addressed are chosen with comfort and the stage of pregnancy in mind. Side-lying and supported semi-reclined positions can reduce strain while still giving the therapist useful access to the back, hips, shoulders, arms, and legs. The massage may be relaxing or more focused, but it should remain responsive to changes in comfort, circulation, sensitivity, and mobility throughout the appointment.
Support for a Body Doing More Work
Pregnancy can place new demands on the low back, hips, legs, feet, neck, and shoulders while also making uninterrupted rest harder to find. Prenatal massage offers time to settle into supported positions and receive attention to the areas carrying those demands. Some clients want gentle full-body care; others want thoughtful focus on a particular muscular concern. The aim is comfort and support, not a promise to treat pregnancy complications. Anyone with new symptoms, a high-risk pregnancy, or instructions that limit massage should consult the appropriate prenatal health care provider before booking.
Experience, Communication, and Room to Adjust
Betsy Burkart NCLMBT #7141, is certified in prenatal massage for the first, second, and third trimesters and brings more than 20 years of massage experience to the table. Before beginning, she asks about the pregnancy, current comfort, medical guidance, preferred pressure, and any positions or areas that need modification. Pillows and bolsters are adjusted until the client feels securely supported, and the plan can change during the massage. There is no expectation that every prenatal client needs the same gentle routine. The session is shaped around the person, the pregnancy, and what would feel most helpful that day.
Not Sure Which Massage Approach to Book?
You do not have to choose the correct modality before your appointment. Additional time is included with your first massage visit to discuss your concerns, pressure preferences, and an appropriate starting point.
